Satellite Internet Laptop Connectivity
There are fixed systems and mobile systems to connect satellite internet your laptop to the the internet.
Fixed Satellite Internet Systems
The
fixed system is less logistically mobile, typically seen in a residential or office setting. Laptops or desktops can be wired or wireless through the satellite internet connection. The wireless connection is made possible through a wireless routing device connected to the modem. This creates a local WLAN WiFi connection of various ranges for wireless mobility. Typically, several computers can share this WLAN Connection
Mobile Satellite Internet Systems
The mobile system has few different configurations. Traditionally, these are deployable retractable systems that are installed on vehicle beds or vehicle roofs roofs. The costs of these systems is considerably more than the fixed systems. Usually about seven times as much. It also requires a dedicated customized application to fit the vehicle. Just as with a fixed system, one use a wireless option as long as they have a router.
The other mobile application is even more portable. Known as the BGAN. This the ultimate in satellite internet portability. The advantage of the system is that it is no bigger than a laptop and usually works on any continent, where the fixed systems and retractable portable units are usually confined to wide beam on one continent. Currently, the consumer viability as far as cost is more demanding. Usually cost is measured in per megabyte download, so the cost can be somewhat prohibitive for the average consumer. There are two models available. The
HNS 9201 BGAN and the
HNS 9250 BGAN
